Amplifying the Voices of Hard to Reach Youth for Inclusive Advocacy and Policy Influence in Rural Communities of Copperbelt, Luapula, and Northwestern Provinces of Zambia
Project: Amplifying the Voices of Hard-to-Reach Youth for Inclusive Advocacy and Policy Influence
This project aims to empower marginalized youth, women and people living with disability in rural communities across the Copperbelt, Luapula, and Northwestern Provinces of Zambia by strengthening their ability to participate in advocacy, governance, and policy decision-making. Many young people in these areas face barriers such as geographical isolation, limited economic opportunities, and lack of access to platforms where they can influence policies affecting their lives. As a result, youth concerns related to education, healthcare, employment, and gender equality are often underrepresented in local development processes.
Through leadership and advocacy training, youth-led advocacy hubs (Youth Quasi Councils), policy dialogue sessions, and community awareness campaigns, the project will equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to engage with local authorities and decision-making structures such as Ward Development Committees and Constituency Development Fund Committees. By amplifying the voices of hard-to-reach youth and fostering collaboration between youth, policymakers, and community leaders, the project will promote more inclusive governance and support the development of youth-friendly policies that improve opportunities and livelihoods for young people in rural Zambia.
CDF Sensitaization 2026
PROMOTING GOOD GOVERNANCE, TRANSPARENCY, AND CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH CDF CIVIC EDUCATION IN MUFULIRA DISTRICT
Future-Preneurs Zambia (FPSZ) in Partnership with Mufulira Municipal Council is implementing a community empowerment initiative in Mufulira District aimed at improving transparency, participation, and accountability in the use of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Although CDF provides an important opportunity for communities to drive local development, many citizens in Kankoyo, Kantanshi, and Mufulira Central constituencies have limited access to clear and understandable information about how the fund works. To address this challenge, FPSZ is simplifying and translating the CDF guidelines into Bemba and conducting community engagement activities to help citizens better understand the fund and how they can participate in local development processes.
Through community hall meetings, awareness roadshows, and the distribution of simplified CDF materials, the project will empower community members particularly women and youth to actively participate in identifying, planning, and monitoring development projects funded through CDF. By strengthening collaboration between communities, Ward Development Committees, and local authorities, the initiative aims to promote transparency, improve citizen oversight of public resources, and contribute to more inclusive and sustainable development in Mufulira District.
Women & Youth Economic Empowerment Initiative
This initiative promotes sustainable livelihoods through savings groups, entrepreneurship support, and financial inclusion activities. It focuses on reducing poverty, strengthening household resilience, and creating climateโfriendly income opportunities for women and young people.
Future-Preneurs Zambia FPSZ proudly participated in International youth Day commemoration on 12 March 2026 in Mufulira District, an important platform that brought together young people, civic leaders, and development partners to celebrate and reflect on the role of youth in national development.
The event also marked a significant
milestone with the launch of the ๐๐จโ๐๐จ ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐๐ต ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ, aimed at amplifying the voices of hard-to-reach youths and people living with disabilities strengthening youth participation
in governance and community development.
Our participation was made possible through the support of Restles Development under the African Union-European Union Youth Cooperation Hub project,
which seeks to empower young people and create inclusive opportunities for youth engagement.
During the event, the keynote address delivered by the Mayor of Mufulira, Mr. Kamanga, emphasized the importance of youth empowerment through practical
skills and entrepreneurship. He encouraged young people who have benefited from skills training under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to take
advantage of the program by applying for grants to establish small businesses using the skills they have acquired.
The event highlighted the critical role of partnerships in supporting youth empowerment and reaffirmed the commitment of stakeholders to ensuring that
young people are equipped with the opportunities and resources needed to thrive.
Future-Preneurs Zambia remains committed to working with partners and communities to promote youth participation, leadership, and sustainable development.
Future-Preneurs Zambia (FPSZ) successfully conducted a Capacity Building Workshop on Electoral Systems in Muffulira Zambia
and Civic Engagement, bringing together youths, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
to strengthen their knowledge and participation in democratic and governance processes.
The training was implemented under the African UnionโEuropean Union Youth Cooperation Hub (AUโEU Youth Project),
which aims to amplify the voices of hard-to-reach youths and promote meaningful youth participation in governance and
decision-making processes. The initiative is supported by Restless Development and its partners who remain committed to empowering young people across the region.
During the workshop, several key presentations were delivered by the Future-Preneurs Zambia team:
Mr. Martin Bwalya Kampamba, Executive Director of Future-Preneurs Zambia, delivered a comprehensive presentation on
Electoral Systems and Electoral Reforms in Zambia, highlighting the importance of understanding democratic processes and ongoing reform discussions.

actively engage in policy processes and democratic spaces.
The training received an overwhelmingly positive response from participants, particularly youths, Persons with Disabilities,
and Civil Society Organizations, who actively engaged in discussions and knowledge-sharing throughout the workshop.
This successful engagement reflects Future-Preneurs Zambiaโs continued commitment to strengthening civic awareness, promoting
inclusive participation, and building the capacity of young leaders to actively contribute to democratic governance in Zambia.
We remain grateful to our partners and stakeholders for their continued support inadvancing youth empowerment and inclusive governance.
Future-Preneurs Zambia (FPSZ) successfully conducted a capacity building training under the โAmplifying the Voice of Hard-to-Reach Youths and Persons living with Disabilityโ initiative, implemented through the African UnionโEuropean Union Youth Cooperation Hub (AUโEU Youth Voice Lab Project) in Solwezi.
The training was held at Bishop Potern Hall at the Catholic Diocese of Solwezi and brought together a diverse group of participants, including representatives from the Solwezi Municipal Council, the Electoral Commission of Zambia, youths from different wards, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The session focused on strengthening participantsโ capacity in civic engagement, leadership, and inclusive participation in governance processes, with particular emphasis on ensuring that marginalized and hard-to-reach youths are meaningfully involved in decision-making spaces. Notably, the training also resulted in the formation of a Quasi Council for Youth in Solwezi, a key milestone aimed at enhancing youth coordination, representation, and engagement with local governance structures.
This engagement reflects Future-Preneurs Zambiaโs continued commitment to fostering inclusive dialogue, strengthening partnerships with key institutions, and empowering young people with the knowledge and tools necessary to actively participate in democratic processes.
We remain grateful for the continued support from Restless Development and partners in advancing youth-led initiatives across Zambia.

Village Chicken Empowerment Initiative
โHope of Youth at Door Stepโ
On 4th September 2025, Future-Preneurs Zambia (FPSZ) launched the Village Chicken Empowerment Initiative under the theme โHope of Youth at Door Step,โ aimed at improving livelihoods among youths and women through sustainable poultry production. The initiative was designed to promote income generation, enhance household food security, and empower beneficiaries with practical, low-cost agricultural skills.
Through this project, 20 youths were supported with startup poultry packages consisting of 10 village chicks each, starter feed, and vaccination support. The project adopted a โpass-onโ model where beneficiaries, after six months, return one mature chicken to support new participants.
The project recorded strong success, with all beneficiaries actively engaged in poultry farming, improving income opportunities, food security, and skills development while strengthening community cooperation.
The initiative has had economic, social, and household-level impact, improving self-reliance, boosting confidence among youths, and enhancing nutrition for families.
FPSZ appreciates Heinz and family for their support and Zikulu Nkuku for supplying quality chicks.
Despite challenges such as limited resources and disease risks, the initiative remains a sustainable and scalable model for youth empowerment.
Before the project, Adrian Nsama had no practical skills and no capital to start a business. Opportunities felt distant, and self-reliance seemed out of reach. That changed when the project introduced him to structured training, hands-on mentorship, and the support of a community savings group.
Through the skills he acquired, Adrian established a small but growing enterprise focused on raising and selling tree seedlings, contributing not only to his household income but also to environmental sustainability in his community. With access to savings and financial discipline learned through the group, he diversified his income further by starting a small trade in paraffin, sold in affordable quantities to meet local demand.
Today, Adrian supports his family with dignity and confidence. His journey has transformed how he is perceived and how he sees himself. Once underestimated, he is now a respected example of determination, opportunity, and community support. His story continues to inspire many young people and women in his community to rise, lead, and thrive.
